Q: I need to know if I'm still having panic attacks.

About a month ago I went to the doctor and they told me I was having a panic attack. They put me on zoloft but I had such a bad reaction to it that I stopped taking it. Then they called me in celexa, but to be honest I didn't get it filled because the zoloft screwed me up so bad I'm afraid to try the celexa. Anyway, I was doing ok for about 2weeks. Now I've noticed that when I wake up, the first thing I feel is anxious. And throughout the day my heartbeat is so strong, my arms and legs get numb and tingly, I'm dizzy, and generally I feel very out of it, like I'm watching everything go by. Do you think I"m still having panic attacks or do you think it's something else? And what do I do to stop these if I am? I hate feeling this way.

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice. What you are describing could be panic attacks but it would be impossible to know without a doctor seeing you and discussing your symptoms.

Sometimes, people react differently to different medications so if you have trouble with one medication, you may do well on a different medication. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. He or she would  be best able to advice you on what to do.
