Q: Can topamax be used for depression/anxiety due to post tramatic syndrome

My nephew was left severely beaten and abused and left for dead.  He survived with

some surgeries to follow.  My question one doctor suggest medication for post traminic

syndrome another to up the dosage on his topamax to 200mg once a day.

My nephew is bi-polar and ADD.  My experience with topamax for migraines has not

been positive.  Any thoughts on the subject???

Topimax is one drug from a "menu" of drugs that includes antihistamines, benzodiazepines, anti-depressants, that are commonly used alone or in combination to help people with PTSD. It sometimes can take playing with several medications until the right single or combination therapy offers significant relief.
