xanex question
Well, I had an axiety attack the other day so I took one of my xanex. I must say that it did not help me much. I hear that it is supposed to calm you or relax you. I wonder if my prescription is not strong enough. Does anyone know how many I can take at one time to help with this axiety? They are 0.5mg and I can take 1 every 8 hours. As I stated earlier, I do not want to DIE taking medication and I hate taking it, but I will if deemed necessary. The reason why I started taking xanex is because I tried all of the other depression and anxiety meds and it really took a toll on my sex life. It was like watching paint dry if you know what I mean
. Plus I am not depressed. Could anyone give me some advice and let me know how much I could take. One did not help at all!!
And please....no DOCTOR words!!! I am a little slow with grams, and other terms
That is a small dose which the Dr usually will start you out with. They do not last 8 hours, more like 6. The 0.5mg do help me,not always the way I want, but they do help relax me. I have taken the 1 mg also and that helps more, but you have to be careful, because they can make you drowsy. There are side effects. My doctor will refill mine, because she knows I do not overdue. There is also antidepressent pills with anxiety ingredients in them. Anxiety can lead to depresssion, that I know. I take Wellbutrin for depression. If you are going to take more than the 0.5 I would suggest that you do not drive etc,but see what it does when you try the 1mg. I hope you can get relief. I think the secret to taking them is,don't wait till the anxiety is really making you feel bad. God bless you and I will pray for you.

Hi Lakeyka,
Thank you for your question! Only your doctor can tell you how much of the medication you should be taking at one time. There are many factors involved in determining what dose you should be taking, and the people on this website are not able to know all of that information. If you feel that the 0.5mg dose is not working for you, speak with your doctor and ask if you can use a higher dose. As mentioned above, there are side effects associated with Xanax, including drowsiness, and you should be careful whenever you're taking a new medication or a higher dose of a medication until you know how it affects you.
Best of luck!
