Q: dry heaving problem

i have a problem for about 6 months now that ive been gagging alot and coughing, things like trying to clear your ears by holding your nose and blowing makes me gag, blowing my nose makes me gag, coughing too much makes me gag and also i had some constipation and when i was trying really hard to pass a poo it also makes me gag. can you help me please, this gagging just started suddenly 6 months ago and hasnt stopped since, it has reduced but is still ongoing and annoying me. Also my gags sometimes seem to bring up gas like a burp, but rather gagging. I'm using gagging for dry heaving i.e not vomiting out anything

Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Central's Anxiety Community.

You don't mention whether you have been diagnosed with anxiety and whether you think this is a symptom of your anxiety. I would suggest speaking with your doctor about what you are experiencing. Some people with anxiety do experience gagging or having a feeling of having a lump in their throat which can make them feel as if they can't swallow. But that doesn't mean that your symptoms are from anxiety. Your doctor would be the best person to determine that or whether there is some underlying physical condition which may be causing this.

I hope this helps
