Hi Jdyer,
I didn't find a lot of information about Symbyax by name, but I did find some information about the components of Symbyax. Symbyax is a combination of OLANZAPINE (zyprexa) and FLUOXETINE (Prozac)
Prozac is generally prescribed for depression and Zyprexa is generally prescribed for bipolar and schizophrenia conditions.
This drug combination must be monitored closely by the doctor. There is a black box warning for Symbyax that cautions to watch for worsening depression or psychosis. There is also a warning about drug interactions with many common over the counter drugs including Acetameniphen (tylenol)
Online sites like Health Central are wonderful resources for finding the information you need to ask all the right questions when it's time to see your doctor. It is a great place to read the experiences of others to help you manage your own care. However, the information here should never be used in place of your doctor's solid medical advice and care.
Take care and stay in touch! Let us know how you are doing!
