IS THERE WEIGHT GAIN IN ANITDEPRESION MEDS
Hi Carrie: I am not a physician, but have taught courses at the doctoral level on medications. As far as I can find in reviewing the Physician's Desk Reference, all the antidepressants carry with them the potential of weight gain. If you look at Wellbutrin, for instance, you will see weight changes are likely, as it is also true in Effexor and Prozac.
You would have to consult with your physician about the best medication for you and the one with the lowest risk of weight gain.
Remember, all medications carry side effects and you should learn what you can, and ask your physician about the risks involved.
I hope this helps,
Dr. Diana Walcutt
