Hi Carrie: I am not a physician, but have taught courses at the doctoral level on medications. As far as I can find in reviewing the Physician's Desk Reference, all the antidepressants carry with them the potential of weight gain. If you look at Wellbutrin, for instance, you will see weight changes are likely, as it is also true in Effexor and Prozac.  You would have to consult with your physician about the best medication for you and the one with the lowest risk of weight gain. Remember, all medications carry side effects and you should learn what you can, and ask your physician about the risks involved.   I hope this helps, Dr. Diana Walcutt The Stress Masters   *Dr. Walcutt is a Psychologist, not a Psychiatrist. Psychiatrists prescribe medications. Psychologists study them, but the majority of Psychologists are not authorized to prescribe meds or give you specific advice about them. Any information given in a post about medication is for educational purposes only, and primarily to aid you in having an informed discussion with your own Psychiatrist/Physician.
