Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com. We also have a site: ADHDCentral.com, which has a great deal of information on coping with and thriving with ADHD.

If you believe you have ADHD, I would suggest taking an online screening test. These tests are not meant to be used for diagnostic purposes, however, they can be a good starting point to determine whether you should consult with your doctor.

You can also print out the results of the screening test and bring the results with you to the doctor to help explain why you think you have ADHD.

I hope this helps.

Hi, I don't know how much help I can be to you but I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and became an adult a few of years ago. It is difficult to find a doctor that will prescribe drugs such as Dexamphetamines to an adult suffering with ADD/ ADHD but it just takes a little perserverance.

First thing you need to know is that in countries such as Australia, GPs are not allowed to prescribe this drug to anyone over the age of 18. However, you will need to get an appointment with one and specifically request to have a referral to a psychologist with the necessary qualifications to prescribe these drugs. This is the dificult part because they are few and far between. Since the symptoms of ADHD and side effects of the medication are usually effect a person on a mental level (eg. anxiety, depression) a psychologist with extra qualifications in this area is the only person who can prescribe these drugs.Hi, I don't know how much help I can be to you but I was diagnosed with ADD as a child and became an adult a few of years ago.
