Q: The last several months, my hair has been falling out. I now have about half the amount. The doctor said it was stress not to color my hair. Thyroid was fine.

I had a huge break up (about a ten year relationship) end about three to four months before I noticed my hair going. I also am a caregiver (that is stressful some days). Plus, my ex left me with a lot of debt. I don't know if this is causing this rapid hair loss or if it is something else. I don't want to be bald. I just want my hair to grow back. I try to de-stress, but it's hard. Any help on what it could be or how I can get my hair back? I see some new hairs growing in some places, but not enough. Please help. Thanks.

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

I am sorry your are going through such a hard time right now. You don't mention whether you are currently under a doctor's care for stress or if you are currently seeing a therapist. If not, I would suggest talking with your doctor about treatments for anxiety and stress and consider asking for a referral for a therapist in your area.

Please check back and let me know how you are doing.

The doctor wanted to put me on anti-depressants...I said no way.  He gave me Xanax for anxiety, but they do not work...just made me sleepy and hungry.
