Both Xanax and Librium are benzodiazepines, which are medications used to treat anxiety. (See: Frequently Asked Questions about Benzodiazepines) These are short-acting and are frequently prescribed to treat Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder.

 

The generic name for Xanax is ALPRAZOLAMand the generic name for Librium is CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE
