Hi Ed,

I am not sure you can prevent an anxiety attack once you have begun to panic, but there might be steps you can take to lessen the affects of the attack.

You can read about symptoms here and perhaps take some tips from this overview about anxiety.

There are members here who have written down what they do to help them when a panic attack starts. Perhaps you will find these tips helpful as well.

Kitty writes about her attack strategy here, mostly about driving and the feeling of having a lack of control.

Lady Isis is always a good read, because she's very open about the issues that affect her and has had some really good progress with what she does to cope. You can read about her experiences here.

Vallovesmusic got some good advice here as well.

The important thing to remember is to breathe. Relax and breathe in, breathe out and repeat over and over.

Hope this helps!! Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
