Q: What do you think is the best anti anxiety drug on the market?

I am going to the doctor on Friday, the 22 of February and my physiciain and I are going to tlak about the Best medication for anxiety.  I have taken Xanax for nearly 27 years and am giving it up, becuase I am tired of being "handcuffed" to it.  I simply wnat to take a drug that will handle my anxiety, not give me any feelings of grandeur and live a peaceful life.  I am DESPERATE for what is best.  Someone please give me you best shot.  I am "normal" in every other way.  I will thank anyone for any information they are willing to give me.  Thank you.     Sincerely,  Ann Rushing

Ann

Thank you for your question and welcome to AnxietyConnection. It is difficult to answer your question as each person reacts differently to medication. Unfortunately, many times it is a matter of trial and error to determine the correct medication and dosage for you.

I wish I could tell you that one medication was the best, but that is just not the case. Let me know how you make out and what you choose to do.

Sorry, but you are sorta handcuffed per say to the anxiety.:(     For me Lexapro 20mg once a day, and valium, inderal work well together.  Hope this helps some.
