Hello Pauline,   I'm an EX OCD SUFFERER. I had horrible ocd . every second i had a hundred of obsessive thoughts that came to my mind. I was obsessed with almost all kind of things that a human being could be obsessed with. Thousands and thousands of obsessions .... I took zoloft (sertraline) for over a year at a dosage of 200 mg and believe me, i was completely cured. I don't have anymore any obsessive thought. I read on the internet articles about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but for me , i never tried it. As long as i was taking zoloft, the impact of the obsessive thoughts on my mind was getting lighter , lighter .... and at the end i was feeling them as normal thoughts: They couldn't bother me anymore and that's how i started forgetting them. It's something normal that such thoughts will come to the mind of a person, but an ocd sufferer would give them more importance then he should ( he didn't choose to give them such importance but this disease forces him fo feel like that). Actually , i don't know what's OCD.  It's something like a bad dream that i had. I was cured by taking one drug with the appropriate dosage. zoloft was the first drug i tried and i worked for me. I read that if one drug didn't work, another drug will do the job.   I hope that this will help you.
