Is vision problems related to anxiety
I am 18 years old. I recently had my first child 7 months ago. About 2 weeks ago I was having panic attacks at night. I only had 2 but now I feel very nervous especially at night when Im by myself. I also feel like my vision is not right. Everything looks different and when something is in motion(or when im walking) I cant focus. Everything looks spaced out especially when im driving down a curvy road with trees on both sides. Then I feel lost. Im just trying to find out what this is and if it really is anxiety.
The first thing you should do is see an eye doctor. The eyes can tell many things about what is going on with your body. If you are on any medications these could be symptoms from your medicaton. Check your side effects section on your medication if this is the case disscus this with your doctor right away. Since this is creating more anxiety for you worring about it will not help yourself out. Getting answers is what you need so get them by seeing these doctors about what you are experiencing right away. Have your blood checked for anemia since you have recently given birth.
My medications affect my eyesight and it is listed as a possible side effect of my medications.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your question. In order to obtain a diagnosis of anxiety or possibly panic disorder, an organic disease should be ruled out. Some of the symptoms you describe certainly can be related to panic disorder. These include fear of having a recurrent attack, being afraid to be in social situations or sometimes being afraid to be alone, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and depersonalization or derealization (having a feeling of being detached from yourself or from reality). Some of these symptoms may explain the changes in vision you describe. Talk these issues over with your doctor to determine if a medical workup is necessary or if you should be referred to a mental health professional. Thanks again for coming to our community. We're here for you. Please do come back and update us on how things are going.
Best,
Dr. Allen Blaivas
