Hi Sarah, Thanks for your question. In order to obtain a diagnosis of anxiety or possibly panic disorder, an organic disease should be ruled out.  Some of the symptoms you describe certainly can be related to panic disorder.  These include fear of having a recurrent attack, being afraid to be in social situations or sometimes being afraid to be alone, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, and depersonalization or derealization (having a feeling of being detached from yourself or from reality).  Some of these symptoms may explain the changes in vision you describe.  Talk these issues over with your doctor to determine if a medical workup is necessary or if you should be referred to a mental health professional. Thanks again for coming to our community. We're here for you. Please do come back and update us on how things are going. Best, Dr. Allen Blaivas
