Q: i am taking celexa 10mg ( new to antidepressants)is this a short term drug for acute depression

my doctor started me on 10mg celexa daily but i don't want to take this drug forever or be incresed to a stronger drug

It is impossible to say how long you would need to take this medication. Each person is different. There are some lifestyles changes you can make to help manage depression and anxiety, such as adding exercise to your daily routine, eating right, practicing relaxation techniques, getting enough sleep each night. In addition, many people have found cognitive behavioral therapy to be as effective as medication in treating anxiety.

 

You may also want to work with a therapist to help develop strategies in your life to help you manage the symptoms.
