Q: I have server pain attacks and anxiety that have caused major sleep lose.

I have serve panic attacks when I go to bed at night. I am afraid to go to sleep.  It feels like I am having a heart attack and my heart rate is way out of control.  I have had this for the past 6 to 7 years serveral times a week.  I am always tired and have tried so many different medications that don't help.  Over the past year I have developed stomach problems that the doctors say come from stress and my anxiety.  What do I do to sleep?  How do I know what to do next?  I am seeing so many doctors and have had so many tests, but still have the same problems.  What can I do?

Donna - What you are describing sounds very frightening and frustrating. Although you mentioned seeing many doctors you did not specifically say whether you have seen any mental health professionals. If you haven't please do so! Some aspect of this suffering has not been addressed properly and there sounds like there is some room for cognitive treatment approaches to address the panic and fear of going to sleep. Please seek some help from a therapist who specializes in treatment of anxiety disorders or check into some clinical trials.
