Q: when does the fog go away or the feeling of derealization?

I cant get over this feeling of "dreaming" with my anxiety. Does anyone have any suggestions? I take meds just wanted to know if someone else feels this way as well and if they have any suggestions as to how to conquer it.

Hi CC,

The feeling of derealization or  "fogginess" is a common symptom of anxiety.  The first thing to do is get a feel for at what level of anxiety does the symptom start to appear.  Start to rate how anxious you feel on a scale of 0-10, where 0 is perfectly calm and 10 is a panic attack.  Practice asking yourself, "what's my rating right now?" at various points of your day.

Anytime that your anxiety hits a level 5, it's time to intervene.  By the time a person gets to a 9 or 10, there's not much you can do until the panic attack is over.

What you can learn right now:

Abdominal Breathing

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Also, look into getting into Cogntive Behavioral Therapy  (CBT).  You can find a specialist in your area by going to the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) website.

I actually get sometimes a weird puffy feeling around my eyebrows.  I sense a tingling sensation in my forehead area and when I work out, it seems to help out for the next day. I sometimes have a feeling that I just woke up which lasts it seems just seconds.

I assume these are all feelimgs of anxiety.  I really do not have much stress in my life that I can say leads to the anxiety feelings. Can anxiety just be a symptom by itself without having stress.
