cc - Sorry you are going through this. Severe anxiety is very unpleasant but is usually able to be reduced to managable levels. There is alot more information that would be needed to know what the next steps might be. It is unclear how long you have been taking these medications and exactly what the dosages are since you haven't mentioned how many times a day you are taking the Buspar and Ativan. It is also unclear if you are seeing a psychiatrist or being treated by your primary. So let me just make a few suggestions. If these are new medications, be patient. If you have been on them for over a month at these doses without benefit then ask for a dosage increase. If you aren't seeing a psychiatrist consider a consultation with one just to make sure that your primary is on the right track. Don't despair! There are lots of other medications and treatment approaches. If you aren't in therapy or a support group consider doing so as well.
