Hi CC: The first thing I want to ask is what does your doctor say? Have you been to a cardiologist, and if not, why not? Then, I would like to know how long has this been an issue and has your doctor put you on blood pressure meds? Finally, it would be important to know your age, your height and weight, if you are diabetic, and if you drink caffeine or smoke tobacco? In other words, it is impossible to diagnose this kind of problem without doing a physical. Another thing that can happen is, because it makes you anxious to check your heart rate, it will automatically go up when you check it. Go see your doctor and ask him these questions. If you don't trust him, find one whom you can trust. Please don't depend on a stranger on the Internet to diagnose you.   Best of Luck, Dr. Diana Walcutt
