Hi tgear98,
This question is on the minds of many who start taking antidepressants. There was a study conducted in 2001 at the University of Virginia examining this issue. Their findings indicated that the SSRI's such as Paxil and Zoloft as well as the SNRI's such as Effexor and Cymbalta were linked with higher rates of sexual dysfunction than antidepressants that are in the aminoketone class, (Wellbutrin) and Serzone, which is also completely unrelated to the SSRI's or the SNRI's. So, the theory is that sexual dysfunction may be related to drugs that act on serotonin.
So, if sexual side effects are of important to you, don't be afraid to discuss this issue with your doctor. Any Psychiatrist who stays informed will know a lot more about this study and these issues than I've just described!
