Q: Blood Pressure during a Panic Attacks

During a stress test I suffered a panic attack and my blood pressure shot up. Do panic attacks raise blood pressure?

Anxiety attacks can cause spikes in blood pressure. Normally, anxiety is not a cause of chronic hypertension but the spikes in blood pressure are temporary.


However, if the spikes are frequent enough, this can cause damage the same as chronic blood pressure.
