Link between diabetes and depression remains mysterious

Of the 21 million Americans who suffer from diabetes, as many as 5 million may also suffer from depression, a study says. Scientists are not sure which of the disorders causes the other. It is possible that the inactive lifestyle of a depressed person may lead to diabetes. It is also possible that the daily stress of managing diabetes may cause depression.
