Dealing With Stress As A Teen

Teens who smoke may be putting themselves at risk for depression later in life, a new study has found. A team of researchers found that adolescent rats given nicotine entered into a depression-like state characterized by extra sensitivity to stress, a lack of pleasure, and anxiety throughout their adult lives. Researchers say even one day of nicotine exposure had long-term effects on the adolescents, but adult rats did not experience the depression symptoms.
