Hearing the sound of their mother's voice over the phone can prompt as much hormone-induced stress relief as an actual hug among daughters, new research suggests. The scientists found that daughters experienced jumps in the so-called "love hormone" oxytocin and drops in the stress hormone cortisol after being exposed to either their mother's voice or her touch.
