Children of cancer patients experience post-traumatic stress

A cancer diagnosis is difficult for every member of a family, but a new study suggests it may hit kids particularly hard. Dutch researchers studied a group of adolescents during the year after a parent's diagnosis and found that 29 percent of them had post-traumatic stress symptoms. Researchers also say that in most cases the parents underestimated their child's stress. Most reported their child's symptoms to be less severe than the child reported. Read more »
