Sleep problems linked to suicide

People who have persistent sleep problems are more likely to try to commit suicide, a new study suggests. Researchers at the University of Michigan found that patients who had two or more symptoms of insomnia were 2.6 times more likely to report a suicide attempt than those who slept normally. Experts say a link between sleep and suicide has been demonstrated in those with mental illness, and in adolescents, but this study is the first to link the two in healthy adults. They say the results show that good sleep is key to good mental and emotional health.  Read full story >
