I am still being plagued by the aftermath of a resiratory infection I thought that I was over with a couple of weeks ago. I was approaching the end of a four week taper of prednisone and hoped to get off it after my followup visit with my pulmonologist on Wednesday. Unfortunately I get really winded with very little effort these last few weeks. By the time I got to the doctor's office I was gasping and coughing. They gave me a breathing treatment and continued me on pred for another week. I am to call back to the office on Monday to see how I'm doing.
I don't know if it's the lingering illness or the medications ...or both... but I have been very shaky and have trouble doing anything...even talking. I also tend to drop things because of the jitters. I don't want to be over dramatic (too late now, huh?) but this has impacted everything. All I can do safely right now is sit.
I know this will pass and I WILL return to a more normal life but it's been hard on me this time. On the plus side, my pulmonologist and staff have been concerned and proactive. I do trust them but it still has been hard.
Oh well,
Gripe session over.
Be well,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I am sorry to hear that you are still having some really cumbersome issues with the pulmonary problem. I guess in contrast we can be grateful for every day we wake up on this side of the grass but it can still be difficult.
You are still on the prednisone and while you might have seen this already, here is the information for prednisone including side effects and interactions. Could be the symptoms you are experiencing are a reaction to the medication.
I will keep looking to see if I can find anything else that might help. Know that there are folks out there thinking about you!
Stay in touch and let us know how you are doing!
