Retirement

By thp636 Thursday, May 10, 2007

I have to concede defeat to our common enemy, asthma. I have been diagnosed since Oct 31 (Halloween, how fitting) I work in a large jail with exposure to many harsh chemicals used for disease control among other things, not to mention stress. I have fought the good fight but after 3 trips to the ER ,all from my job site,I bow to the inevitable. It's time to go.

I have qualified for a pension so fighting further would be silly and dangerous.

It's really too bad because I enjoy working but not at this price.

Be well,

tom

You have occupational asthma. Have you been experiencing any symptoms at home?

I have only occasional symptoms at home. Sometimes if I over exert myself or if my wife uses cleaning solutions I have some problems but nothing as severe as I have at work. I use my nebulizer when things are bad at home and I'm usually OK.

That's good to know.
