I just thought I would pop this out there for anyone who is interested.
I had been told by my doctor that I had asthma in my early 20's and had been a regular user of an inhaler for years.
Later - about 20-years later - I visited a different doctor due to an injury sustained during water ski racing where I had a fall after cramping up in my leg and this new doctor suggested the cramp may be caused due to lack of oxygen in the blood stream - so I was referred to a breathing specialist.
The first thing the breathing specialist did was confirm that I was a shallow breather not an asthmatic and therefore she trained me to breath deeper into my lungs and most importantly to breath out when under stress etc so as to expel the "bad" air.
This was about 7-years ago and I have never touched an inhaler since.
What annoys me is how quickly the initial doctor prescribed me the inhaler when it appears now it was never needed.
I would encourage anyone with asthma to at least question if there are alternatives. I for one will now always look for a way to avoid pumping my body full of drugs etc and instead use natural remedies where possible.
