As a llifetime asthmatic and ong-time chronic inhaled corticosteroid user I can vouch for everything written in this post.  Combining a LABA and inhaled corticosteroid into one inhaler may be one of the best things to ever be invented for us asthmatics.

These medications are too cost prohibitive and it is very easy to think you may be safe to wean when your asthma has been well-controlled for two years. As many insurances are changing to high deductible/high out of pocket plans, I expect to see compliance drop further with such medications, unfortunately.
