FDA Update on Singulair Concludes No Association with Suicide or Suicidal behavior

The FDA issued an update on 1/13/09 regarding their saftey review of Singulair. They stated that they reviewed data from 41 placebo-controlled trials with almost 18,000 patients and there was one adult patient (o.o1%) out of 9929 patients treated with Singulair who had suicidal thoughts and there were NO suicides. This appears to be great news, but I doubt if the newsmedia will give this as much attention as they did in their original coverage last March. Hopefully some of the patients who were controlled on Singulair but were fearful and stopped using it will consider the facts.
