Although, the meds may have improved there are still numerous side-effects from steroid inhalors. If one has to use it to survive and it works that is great. It saved me at a critical time for sure. But it wrong for you to say that the meds are safe. There have been a number of articles about side effects from advair and even symbicort comes with a bevy of pretty worrisome side-effects in it's ads. I have suffered from a number of side effects from steroid inhalors myself such as cataracts, chronic oral thrush, nausea, high blood pressure, weight-gain, poor immune function, chronic laryngitis, etc. Those are problems I didn't have before. Since weaning off of them and using singulair, I have lost over 10lbs (without any dietary changes) and my blood pressure has gone down in just a few short months.

This is not even to get into the discussion of the impact of these meds on children who have developing bodies. Again, I understand that these drugs can save a life and if that is the only oalternative for child or adult, then it is what one needs to do in order to live. But, to say that these drugs are safe is very misleading.
