Tuesday, September 08, 2009 at 05:45 AMMe and my son were both diagnosed today with swine flu and we live in alabama... we are both asthmatic and we were told not to panic. The medicine is very expensive for those who do not have insurance. I was told that it is easy to fight as long as you take antibiotics and stay away from everyone while you are sick.. I spoke with several doctors from different hospitals today regarding this and they all said the same thing... No need to panic since this is only really harmful to the very elderly and infants...This is by far fun and having asthma does make it harder to get over but according to the doctors it is very possible...

Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 11:44 AMI am expecting & due in October. I have asthma, no insurance, & all the symptoms of the swine flu (which has been going around our church & my son's school). This is my fourth day and I am feeling much better as far as headache & body aches, however, I am still completely exhausted, weak & having trouble breathing. I did an asthma treatment last night and one so far today. Any other suggestions to help my breathing and energy level (or lack thereof)? Thank you.

Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 05:09 PMI have been taking Vitamin B-12 and it works wonders and since you are pregnant and not able to take anything else I would get some B-12... Make sure that you eat something with it first though and it will make you be able to get up and function...It is the energy vitamin and I don't know what I would do without it right now. I still have the bodyaches and the nausea but my fever is gone and since I still have to go on with my busy hectic life B-12 was my answer.. I hope this helps....

Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 05:14 PMAlso, The Tamiflu is only good if you are in the early stages or have just been exposed and have no signs yet.. It is a preventative more or less as I understand. The pharmacist told me to get "elderberry" from GNC or some nutrition store. She told me it is like $20.00 as to where Tamiflu is around $85.00-$100.00 and it is supposed to have the same effects....

Swine Flu

Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 01:04 AMAt this date, I think it's time to address those of us who have swine flu. While there is so much information about avoiding it, there is very little about enduring it; especially for those with reactive airway disease.
I was diagnosed with swine flu...treated with tamiflu, but now days after all flu symptoms have gone...I have cough and asthma. I'd dealing with the asthma the same way I would with any URI, but wonder if it's enough.

This is the best article I have read about the "swine" flu. The media is trying to panic the public--that's how they stay in business. So far, this flu has not been severe except in Mexico. We need to calm down & react appropriately, as suggested in this wonderful article. Thank you, Rick!
