Many allergists avoid giving inhaled steroids. People temporize about adult asthma because it is less dramatic. But it is just as bad. "Life without breathlessness" is worth monitoring other risks.

What is a high dose andwhat is a low dose? Many articles mention these things but don't actually describe what they are.

I am so glad to see this long term usage of these drugs and side effects being addressed.  I have a good response to steroids and little else with severe allergies to a good number of environmental and chemical factors.   Have had two trials of allergy shots with little or no relief.  If I do not use the steroids I can lose my voice (I sing for enjoyment and in public for church.) and have had my throat close until I pass out (car exhause, ammonia nitrate fertilizer, the pollinator chemicals used on apple orchards).  So I use them.  But I do notice I get colds, flu more easily and of course with asthma, more severely, with repeated pneumonitis. I have had a bone density test done.  And am fine there. But for years the issue of long term usage has just been ignored.  I can't say I would not use the drug because of the benefits.  I am just glad to see all issues with its use being brought out for consideration.
