  2. Cockroach and mice

Dr. Remick's research adds important information about the problem of cockroach infestation for children and adults with asthma in the inner city. However, using mice to model asthma and investigate new treatments is not new. Viewers should know that researchers have used mouse models of asthma like Dr. Remick's for many years.

    Hi,

Thank you for your comments. You are right, mice have been used for asthma research for several years. They have probably been the most highly utilized animal for research all over the world.

Interestingly, mice are also a big problem in inner cities (and rats) and in some reports, are just as bad as cockroaches in triggering asthma attacks.

Makes you wonder if any mice develop cockroach allergy on their own.

    Appreciate your sharing,

    J. Thompson, MD
