Hi folks,I was not diagnosed with Asthma until I was 19 and on my own. Although I had symptoms all through grade school and high school, it was never recognized for what it was. Once I realized I had asthma, the first thing I tried was over the counter products like Primateen Mist and tablets. Needle...

Mine is brough on by mold and dust.  Which is stuff you can't really get away from.  I have been able to keep it pretty well in check the last couple of years though, until the last month or so, and it had been months since I needed an inhaler, so when I needed one, I used the primatene mist (which I also hate).  Turns out after a month of using that thing daily, I developed bronchitis, so I had to get the breathing treatments and everything (that we all love) and am finally starting to breath.  Asthma can be a really scarey thing to go through on your own, not to mention expensive.  I remember when I got diagnosed, I just cried.  But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!  Now I spend more time trying to calm my husband down, if he hears me weeze, he wants to rush me to the DR. I just hope my son never has to go through it.

    Hi Angela,

I wonder how many people were not diagnosed as kids, because the allergy situation is so bad, that is the usual first diagnosis? My parents were not the "doctor" kind. We only went when it was obvious we were really bad off.

I was on Theodur and the inhalers. First Ventolin, then onto straight Aminophaline (spelling is attrocious) Been off of the Theodur for some time now and only use the inhaler on demand.

i was diadnosed for asthma when i was 17 too. i used to have allergies during summer and spring because of flowers but it became so opvious when i entered the medicine school in the dissecting room the smell was over peared. i started my treatment with ventoline inhalors (sulbutamol) but now i take sulbutamol and corticosteroids too.

sometimes i feel i don't wanna take my medicine anymore

sulbutamole every 4 hours means 6 times per day and corticosteroids twice aday that means i take inhalors 8 times per day that made my life misreble. i once decided to stop all those medications and now i take only sulbutamol when need to but not regular, i know this is wrong and this made my situation worse but i couldn't stand all those medications anymore. people also makes me feel strange i always disturbe them (not to smoke in front of me, no perfumes plz.... and so on....)

iam trying to have a group therapy through this site

i wish people here could help

oh by the way iam 19 now
