ciao gilbert and welcome!

yes caffeine definitely helps with asthma symptoms. it cannot replace medication in the event of an asthma attack but when i just feel little chest tightness a cup of tea totally makes me feel better! between the heat, steam and caffeine it all helps.

This is true. If I feel like I have just a little chest tightness that my meds won't take care of, if I drink some tea, my lungs just "melt" and everything clears up for a good amount of time... long enough for me to forget about the tightness and just overall relax.

I found this post looking for evidence of this b/c it worked for me! What is it? The caffeine, the warmth?

Yes, it's true!  I have chronic asthma and I drink very hot drinks as part of my overall care plan.  It is mostly tea however I am thinking about changing to coffee after reading about the benefits for asthmatics.  I suggest that a cup of hot fluid is drank every two hours.  I find this works well!

I have had Asthma all my life and a good strong cup of tea (large mug) works wonders is soothing the tubes and for calming me down, this coupled with my medication works a treat.
