Have you ever watched an asthma video in the video learning library here on HealthCentral? Video is a great way to learn about almost any topic, particularly if you are a visual person. Video is especially popular with the younger generation, who have virtually grown up with video technology.
So I thought it might be useful to the HealthCentral asthma community if I highlighted some of the asthma video learning resources both here and elsewhere on the Web.
Asthma Videos at HealthCentral
There are a number of videos on a variety of asthma-related topics right here on this site. Here are just a few:
- Understanding Asthma
- Bronchial Thermoplasty, the first non-pharmacological asthma treatment
- What Really Triggers Asthma?
LifeWithoutLimits YouTube Channel
This YouTube channel of videos comes from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA for short). They have several different videos you might be able to learn from:
- The Daily Buzz About Asthma
- Two Main Causes of Asthma Symptoms
- Indoor Allergens & Asthma-Friendly Products
Other Health Website Videos
NHLBI is short for National Heart Lung and Blood Institute and is part of the National Institutes of Health. They offer a comprehensive video about asthma:

The AAAAI offers a Just for Kids section and here is their video to teach kids about asthma:

More YouTube Videos About Asthma
I found a few other reliable videos about asthma too. You must be careful about looking for information about health issues on the Web, because there is a lot of misinformation from people only hoping to sell you their product. Look for reliable health education organizations like the ones I list here:
- How an asthma attack occurs
- What to do during an asthma attack
- How to use an inhaler
- How to use a dry powder inhaler (diskus, like Advair)
In Summary
Video can be a fun way to learn about something, especially when you want to know "how to" do something, such as using an inhaler. Video could be especially appealing to young children or teens, who don't have the patience to read a large amount of text.
