I am 55 years old.  About 2 months ago, I developed eczema on my right elbow.  Just a small spot right a the point of the elbow. Never had this before in my life.  Last week I had my first ever asthma attack.  Very scary situation!  Definitely seems to be a correlation between the 2.

Yes, I would guess you are living proof of that fact. I have both as well. Please be sure to stay in touch with your doctor to develop a treatment plan that will keep both diseases under control, won't you?

Best,

It certainly was for me.  From the age of 3 months I had severe eczema/rhinitis plus asthma from about seven years old. The only treatment was antibiotics for resulting chest infections.

I am now 60 and have suffered only asthma since undergoing allergy shots for  dust mites, pollens/grasses. Asthma is comfortably controlled by steriods.

However, I have now come full circle and have a violently itchy rash on both arms, which high doses of prednisone controls to some extent. When I stop the prednisone it comes back.

Parents, look out for kids with eczema and get them to a dermatoligist. It really is a handicap for a child and I believe it leads to asthma. It did with me.
