It's 2009, and that means we are all being forced to switch officially to the HFA type of asthma inhaler. Many other posts here have dealt with the whys and wherefores of this regulatory change, and you can read all about them on our HFA Inhalers page.   It's a fact that many people do not fee...

I have federal health insurance and cannot use the coupons. I am a divorced person and live alone. So, I am a sole supporter for myself. With all the other medications I have to take (fourteen- all necessary, but few generic), I have to decide which medications are more important than others. For me, breathing is a luxury.

There are some generics availible in India already much cheaper than brands in the USA. We are allowed to buy 90 day supply from overseas legally. Here is a link to check out

    <a href="http://www.progressiverx.com"></a> hope it helps

I had a problem in 2008 due to taking my inhalers and the donut hole from  medicare part D.  so I cut my doseages in half and have now run in more problems.  I feel something has to be done about this as this is costing the government more in doctor visits and medicare payments to the doctors. I use generic meds when ever possible. The seniors of America need help..

I have been transitioned to Proair HFA from Armstrong CFC and I am very dissatisfied with these "new" inhalers.  To begin with, I need twice as many puffs (or more) than I did with the old CFC inhaler!  It says there are 200 doses, but the container is only 1/2 the size of the Armstrong CFC - how can this be???  I think we are being cheated out of doses.  When I asked for an extra inhaler each month, my doctor reprimanded me and said I should use less!!! USE LESS???  I only use it when I cannot breathe and I am too far away from my nebulizer at home!  The "Spiriva" Handihaler I take once a day simply does not help when I go out walking or shopping.  I continue to need a rescue inhaler.  I don't know one asthmatic who is happy with the new HFA's.  I will become a prisoner of my home if things don't change.  Since enough "rescue" inhaler is being denied to me, going out will be a risk.  But I am a rebel!  I will go out - even if it means many emergency trips to the ER.  These phony new inhalers are going to cost the government a lot of money - thanks to the FDA and their foolish decision to ban CFC inhalers.

Save the ozone layer.....forget about all of us with asthma. That's what I think every time I need

my rescue inhaler. The change of inhalers is a financial burden on me. I keep reading there is no generic Albuterol, yet I'm having to use Proair that I get from Medco mail order. They consider it a generic Albuterol. It does't work!  I have had to start using a nebulizer if I need a quick acting drug. I use an inhaler with a combination of drugs in it. With using this on a regular basis as prescribed, I still need a fast acting inhaler at times, or nebulizer now since the FDA has decided to save the ozone layer by removing the propellant from our inhales.  A nebulizer is a bit bulky to carry in my purse. Removing the propellant from asthma inhalers to save the world  is comparable to removing a BB out of a box car to lighten the load.

I agree with you 100%, Proair tastes like glue and does not relieve symptoms as quickly as the old Albuterol inhalers.
