Responding to an Asthma Attack

At a Glance

Whether you or someone you know is having an asthma attack, there are some important steps to take to prevent the attack from progressing into an emergency. Remaining calm and relaxed will stop the attack from escalating, and using your rescue inhaler will usually relieve the symptoms within a few minutes. If these steps arent' working, it's important to get the person having the attack to the emergency room for help.
