Q: alergetic reaction

I have raised bumps that itch and would like to know could it be a allergic reaction. Swelling to a size of golf ball and itching. I don't know why this is happening but has been reacurring since November 2009 after having a colonoscupy. Please ask if need more information.

Thank You Sincerely,

Hi Stephany, It's impossible, not to mention unethical, for us to try to diagnose you over the Internet. But what you're describing sounds like hives. As to whether they might be caused by something connected with a colonoscopy (such as dye?) or something else would be impossible for us to tell. I can tell you though that allergic reactions do not generally persist for long periods of time. Having a continuous allergic reaction for 4 months doesn't really make sense.

However, if you are having an allergic reaction, perhaps it is related to something you are coming into contact with on a regular basis, such as something in your environment. I would suggest you visit a doctor to have the areas examined and to evaluate what might be going on.

Hope you're feeling better soon,

Kathi
