Hi Marcia,
I can't answer that question with a black and white answer. Flonase is an inhaled steroid and inhaled steroids are the recommended treatment of choice for people with asthma. So, in that regard, I would say it is very good. However, it's important to recognize that different people can respond differently to the various asthma medicines that are available.
We are each unique people who may have slightly different things going on in our bodies. Much can depend on the severity level of your asthma. Flonase might work great for one person, but not so great for another. This is why treating asthma can be a bit of a trial and error process at times.
Doctors need to have you try medicines for a few weeks and see how effective they are at controlling your asthma. Asthma CAN be controlled for most people, so that you are symptom-free most of the time. If that's not what's happening for you, then it's time to talk openly with your doctor about how you are feeling.
You may also want to consider consulting with an asthma specialty doctor, such as an allergist, immunologist or pulmonolgist.
To your health,
Kathi
