Believe it or not, it used ot be believed that stress and anxiety caused asthma, or that asthma is all in your head (as you can read about in this old book). However, that old theory has since been disproven. However, while scientists now know your asthma is not all in your head, they have proven that anxiety and stress can "trigger" an asthma attack. Yes stress can trigger asthma attacks!! I was confused as to what was bringing on my attacks so frequently while I was in college, my doctor did allergy testing, and all other types of tests, finally he told me to document when my attacks happened and what was going on around me(allergens, activities etc...) It seemed that when I was studying or thinking about studying.. lol... I had more attacks!! Well I have to be really careful about getting stressed out, and the worst part is I don't really realize until an attack that I am even stressed!
