Q: Exposed to furnace byproduct, basement dust, etc. - now restricted breathing. Please advise.

Hi - I have breathing problems and usually breathe through my mouth when I sleep. I mistakenly slept in a friend's semi-finished basement and later realized I inhaled furnace combustion byproduct and likely other particles found in a basement such as dust, etc. Since then, my blood oxygenation fell slightly and now have about 25% of the energy I had prior to the incident. My breathing feels restricted. I am short of breath when speaking. I sometimes have pain in my lungs. My skin looks horrible. What can I do to rehabilitate myself?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're feeling poorly. Unfortunately, you haven't given us near enough information to help you. Do you have asthma? Are such things known asthma triggers for you? Are you under any kind of treatment for your "breathing problems"?

We can't diagnose you over the internet, so your best bet is to talk with your doctor about how you are feeling and your theories about the basement experience. Get the treatment that is right for you.

To your health,

Kathi
