I USE ADVAIR 50/500 RX FROM MY DOCTOR BUT MY HEALTH PLAN DOESNT ALLOW IT - IS QVAR A VIABLE SUBSTITUTE?  I'VE BEEN BUYING MY ADVAIR FROM MEXICO BUT IT'S STILL VERY EXPENSIVE $40-$60USD.  MY HEALTH PLAN SUGGESTED QVAR BUT IT CONTAINS VERY DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS - IS IT AS GOOD AS ADVAIR. (IN MEXICO ADVAIR IS CALLED SERETIDE DISKUS -SAME COMPANY CONTAINS THE SAME STUFF) I HAVE COPD

Advair and Qvar are totally different drugs. While both contain a potent steroid, Advair ALSO contains a long acting bronchodilator.

If you're doing well with a rescue inhaler like Albuterol, you could probably get by with a drug like Qvar, which only contains the steriod beclomethasone.
