Yes, I am also newly diagnosed with COPD (probably have had it for a few years now).  If you have not seen a pulmonary lung doctor; I would recommend having your family doctor refer you; he would be the one to ask.   My pulmonary doctor upd my Advair pump from 150 to 250 which just means less puffs, but it is stronger as well.  Seems to work great for me.  Used to be on Ventolin pump and also the Combivent pump; now I just use Advair.   I am also on Singulair every night for about 4 years now.  I don't plan on ever quitting Singulair.   Just take it one day at a time, it too will pass and taper off. (the pollen season is now upon all of us-this time of year), best of luck.   cajunties/Liz
