Q: my 16 yr. old son has a bloody discharge out of his mouth at night. What could this be from?

He had spontanious pnemothorax about 3 months ago, which lead to a chest tube and surgury. I find bloody discharge on his pillow cases and he also seems to spit blood in the mornings. This isn't a bright red blood, it seems brownish. Is this something to do with his lung collasping and should we see our doctor? He did have asthma as an infant.
