Q: If you are allergic to eggs can you get a flu shot?

Almost 40 years ago I had hives for about 6 months.  The doctor ran tests and said I was allergic to eggs.  Since then I have only had hives once and that was about 10 years ago.  I was told I wouldn't be able to take flu shots or the pneumonia shots having this allergy is this true?  I have Sjogren's Syndrome, Diabetes, and Asthma.  I am 57 years old.
